The building was designated C / 2015 F2 (Poland). They found it: Marcin Gędek of Oborniki (entrepreneur), Michal Kusiak from Zywiec (student of astronomy), Rafal Reszelewski with Świdwin (student technical) and Michael Żołnowski from Krakow (doctor).
Poles tracked a comet using a telescope with an automatic his private observatory “Polonia”, which are close to the town of San Pedro de Atacama Atacama Desert in Chile (second observatory launched in northern Italy). The purpose of observation is to search for comets and asteroids. Explorers
saw the comet on March 23 this year. The discovery has been officially confirmed by the International Astronomical Union in the bulletin cbet No. 4083 of 27 March 2015 year. Data on comets have also been published in newsletters Minor Planet Electronic Circular (MPEC).

Usually comets are named, the names of explorers . This time, however, this did not happen, and the comet was named Polonia. As explained explorers, their team is made up of four people and the principles applied by the International Astronomical Union does not allow you to assign a name consisting of four names. Poles decided, therefore, that the comet is named after the name of the observatory, which allows also in a symbolic way to distinguish our country.
– The search for comets are quite complex and tedious process. March 23 was for us a very exciting day. Initially, there were technical difficulties and despite the fact that the observatory stands in the desert, we had a serious fear of the collapse of the weather. But everything worked out extremely. Monday afternoon, when the pictures we saw the comet, it was unusual and difficult to describe. Stress alternate with euphoria, agitation and reflection – said Michal Kusiak.
Comet brightness is now approx. 17 magnitude. Is currently visible in the southern hemisphere, the Polish you can not see it. But – as astronomers predict – in a few months, probably should also appear in the sky over our country, and perhaps it is in range of amateur telescopes.
