Hemp could revolutionize technology. Replace graphene? – News 24

hemp fibers can be used as a superconductor with properties similar to graphene. Discovery was made by researchers from the University of Clarkson.

This method consists in the removal of the hydrothermal synthesis of lignin and hemicellulose. The fibers form a nanostructure with properties similar to that already graphene. The advantage of this method is several hundred times lower manufacturing cost.

Graphene has high conductivity of electricity and heat with low resistivity. It is a structure made of carbon atoms. It is a substitute for silicon. It can also be used for the construction of tactile displays and solar cells. Due to its physical properties, graphene can be used in many areas of science and technology – from medical devices after the construction of transistors.

One of the technologies developed obtaining graphene, researchers from the Institute of Electronic Materials Technology and Department of Physics, University of Warsaw. Thanks to it is possible to produce this structure on an industrial scale.

If the method proves to be David Mitlina effective hemp could revolutionize science and technology.
