Spanish Telefonica finalized talks on the sale of Hutchison O2 UK for $ 15 billion.
Hutchison began negotiations with Telefonica O2 on 23 January. The talks lasted until Tuesday, March 24. O2 will be sold for 10.20 billion pounds (15.2 billion dollars).
With the transaction Hutchison will hold the second (O2) and fourth (Three) of the UK network. Buying O2 will increase the number of its clients by more than 22 million.
The transaction is now in the hands of the authorities involved in the regulation of the market. Telefonica expects that this should take place on June 30, with the possibility of extending the deadline until 30 September.
