First, lay on the beach and laid with their bodies giant porpoise. Later, bathed in the cold Baltic Sea. Dozens of walruses, environmentalists and lovers of porpoises took part in an unusual happening: WWF Earth Hour, which this year is being organized under the slogan “Time for a porpoise.”
– The species is threatened with extinction. If the Baltic harbor porpoises are to survive, Poland needs to adopt the program as soon as possible to protect the species, adds Andrearczyk. Anyone can support the organization. We are responsible for the fate of the Baltic Sea and its inhabitants, including the critically endangered porpoise.
Each of us can also really help these mammals. Just make a signature for an appeal as soon as possible adoption and implementation of the protection of the Baltic harbor porpoise. Anyone can sign the appeal on the website www.godzinadlaziemi.pl
Volunteers, environmentalists and residents of Sopot lined up on the beach, creating a silhouette of a giant porpoise. Later, for volunteers who planned to enter the cold Baltic, warm-up was carried out. After a few minutes a group of adventurers, holding hands went into the sea.
The harbor porpoise is the only cetacean species ever found in the Baltic Sea.
