Orange Poland does not expect payment in ’16 penalty imposed by the EC – Banker

Orange Poland does not expect that the payment of the penalty imposed by the EC in 2011 will take place next year – said at the conference Maciej Nowohoński, Board Member. Financial Orange Poland.

“The information that we have today, shows that the penalty imposed by the European Commission will not be that we paid in 2016,” – said Nowohoński, when asked about whether the fine is included in the financial plans of the company to the next year.

In June 2011 the European Commission imposed on Polish Telecom (now Orange Poland) 127.5 million euro fines for abusing its dominant position on the Polish market of broadband access to the Internet. The Commission argued that TPSA consistently for over four years refused or made it difficult for alternative operators access to its network.

Orange Poland currently has on the reduction or cancellation penalty by the Luxembourg court.

In November last the Orange Poland and Netia, one of the parties to the proceedings before the European Commission, concluded a settlement, which regulates the mutual claims of both companies. Under the agreement, Orange Netia paid 145 million zł net, but the amount has could rise by as much as 50 million euros in the case of a total cancellation penalty by the court. (PAP)
