Polish graphene could revolutionize the yacht industry and aviation – Science in Poland (PAP)

Polish AGP company, which manufactures high-quality graphene, will develop together with the Technical University of Lodz components (water desalination systems, energy storage, composite materials) that may revolutionize the production of yachts and aircraft.

AGP, along with a group of scientists from the Technical University of Lodz launching a study of the system allows for the production of photovoltaic solar energy and high-performance storage in batteries and capacitors. The invention can be used to design innovative power systems and flying craft.

The company is also working on using graphene for the production of flexible and durable composites, which are used eg. In the production of sailboat masts and hull elements – vessels, but also aircraft.

“We intend to develop an innovative global technology for manufacturing fiber-graphene patches for reinforcement of composites with layered. Graphene used in this way in the composites allow multiple components to reduce weight while maintaining or even increasing their strength and flexibility, “- he explained in an interview with PAP Chairman of the Board of AGP Maciej Twig.

On the basis of their graphene company plans to begin also begin production of membranes for seawater desalination that can be used in water installations ocean yacht.

“We intend to use a method consisting in pouring salt water through a thin membrane created with graphene HSMG having holes with a diameter of ~ 1 nm. They are so large that let in water molecules, but small enough to retain the molecules of salt “- says Twig.

“We believe that graphene HSMG in the near future will be able to solve the problem of drinking water, including ocean sailing” – says Piotr Przybysławski with AGP.

The basis for the development of innovative solutions for the industry is strong graphene HSMG – High Strength Metallurgical Graphene – developed by AGP based on the proprietary, patented process.

“This is a graphene produced on thin metal – can be freely processed and transferred to other surfaces. No other company uses similar technology to produce graphene, which gives it unique properties, “- explains Prof. PAP. Piotr Kula, vice-rector. Innovation Technical University of Lodz, one of the founders of Advanced Graphene Products.

AGP today marks its presence in the environment of sailing – the unit sponsored by the Polish Championships will attend classes Delphia24 One Desing, Delphia Cup 2015 which will be held August 6-9 in the waters of the Gulf of Gdansk in Sopot.
