Kepler-452b – one of the 12 new planets whose discovery was announced at the conference, NASA – is less than half the size of Earth and It’s called. ecosphere – ie it is at such a distance from its star that it may there be liquid water.

The planet is older than the earth, so that it can give scientists investigate insight into the future of our planet. It was discovered using the Kepler telescope. It measures the brightness of stars.

Every time when the planet crosses the line between the telescope and the star, the brightness decreases slightly. Presented graphically, it reminds a bit EKG – a kind of “pulse” of the star. Repeated “pulse” allows you to specify the orbit and size of the planet.

The Kepler telescope has six years looking for distant worlds, with conditions similar to those prevailing on Earth. His first discovery was Kepler-20e, a planet orbiting a star smaller than the sun. Unfortunately, it is much closer to its star – lap it takes only six days – therefore it is very hot and there is no liquid water.
