It’s no secret that Apple earns a lot of money on the sale of iPhones. This is possible thanks to the fact that the sales price of the product is much higher than the cost of production. That’s why experts so eager to add up the cost of production of each new model, and it did so for the latest model of the iPhone 6s, which in a few days, will hit the store shelves.
They took to the analysts at Merrill Lynch, who finds that the production cost of one unit is $ 234. After comparing the costs of earlier models, it is clear that from year to year production of this smartphone is becoming increasingly expensive because of the use it more and more modern components.
One of the biggest cost in production is aluminum housing and wiring, for which Apple pays $ 33. The new A9 processor manufactured in 14 nm technology costs $ 25, and 64 GB of flash memory will cost $ 20. $ 36 cost communication systems including Qualcomm LTE modem, and $ 22 is the cost of sensors and therefore also a fingerprint reader. The screen is $ 74.
The total costs of production of the new phone are therefore $ 234. Of course, should we add to this the cost of development, but some time in iPhones there are no major innovations, so they are not a large amount.
Part of the profits absorbs well as the distribution and promotion, but even so the company earns on each piece a lot of money, if we take into account the fact that the new iPhone costs in the store $ 750.
