Malicious software encrypts Apple computers and demands ransom – Virtual Poland

OS X, which is the operating system of computers from Apple, because of its much smaller popularity of Windows, you have not been so frequent target of attacks, as the Microsoft system. This, unfortunately, is changing, and the first malware ransomware is a best evidence.

Ransomware is especially despicable malware. Encrypt it our data in a way that prevents them to be read, and then requests the payment of ransom to the indicated account if we are ever to gain access to them. To date, this risk appear in many forms primarily on Windows. Now it turns out that users of Apple computers running OS X are also at risk.

Unwanted software was first discovered on March 4. It was named by the creators of “KeRanger” and uses (most likely) stolen from one of the developers of the security certificate, making it easy to spread the additional computers by hiding in the installer application Transmission, network client torrent.

The creators of this application has not explained precisely why it has become the primary source of infection. They put only appropriate warning on its website, as well as the published application update, which is free of unwanted addition.
