AMD announced under the initiative VR First, together with Crytek will help schools and universities to create laboratories of virtual reality (VR).
A joint initiative between AMD and Crytek is to provide developers, students and researchers in educational institutions ready-made solution VR. AMD equips classrooms with a set of Radeon Pro Duo and LiquidVR SDK, which together form the rich platform capabilities for content creators VR, allowing both for their creation, as well as consuming. LiquidVR SDK (Software Developer Kit) is available under the initiative GPUOpen.
Virtual reality has the potential to revolutionize how people associate with the world of the digital world. You see it already presented games, entertainment, but also in education, medicine, journalism and many other areas of life and work. The most important goal is to adequately equip the developers of a new era, because they create new amazing and immersive experience. AMD and Crytek merged desire to build the foundation for the emerging ecosystem of virtual reality.
We are entering a new era of computerization, which thanks to modern graphics chips and engines in games provides a much more immersive experience – said Raja Koduri, senior vice president and the chief architect of Radeon Technologies Group, AMD.
How Raja Koduri adds: – we need all the new wave of developers who build their knowledge base on the basis of knowledge of programming GPUs and game engines. We are fully committed to this goal and therefore we work together with Crytek at VR First initiative. That’s what this initiative is an important step on the road to significantly develop platforms providing new experiences. It is the goal we also certification programs VR equipment Ready.
Workshops VR First will be the key incubators education for new talent industry VR and create a global community of people well prepared for pushing innovation in this dynamic field computerization. Virtual Reality drawing power from the engine CryEngine and developed with the help of world-class hardware and software brand Radeon ™ will be able to fundamentally change it, how we interact with technology – said Cevat Yerli, CEO of Crytek.
The new school and university classrooms will be equipped with graphics cards AMD Radeon Pro Duo with a set LiquidVR SDK, which together constitute the fastest platform for content creators VR reaching as much as 16 Teraflops of computing power. It is also a bridge between systems designed exclusively for professional creation and those serving uncompromising entertainment games. AMD Radeon Pro Duo is designed to be compatible with multiple sets of VR, such as the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive, so it can become the foundation for the development of virtual reality in the world. The first workshop covered by a program VR First was launched in January this year at the University of Bahçeşehir in Istanbul.
