The Warsaw Zoo opened Żabińskis villa. During the war … – Onet.pl

At the heart of the zoo is an unusual object. This is the home of one of the former directors of the capital of the garden, Żabinski, but also a unique “witness” of history. The “Villa at the crazy star” director and his family hid during World War II, tens of Jews from the Warsaw ghetto.

The building was renovated and restored to its former decor. In May, will be open to visitors. – Restored the villa splendor to invite guests to the interior and show, where he lived and still live the “good spirit” of the entire garden. You can see here the aquarium, photographs, sculptures, artifacts, piano. You can not forget the basement of the tunnel, which once gave a chance to survive – says Ewa Zbonikowska, deputy director of the capital of the zoo.
