Modular smartphone with a slide out from the bottom of the battery, the battery capacity up to 4000 mAh (with appropriate module), the two main cameras … LG proved just that smartphones do not have to be boring, they do not have to look the same, and the producers have not yet told the last word. In Barcelona, on the eve of the fair MWC 2016, LG presented G5, first introduced modular smartphone. And this is just the beginning.
LG G5 is such a phone, which are on the market did not have to deal with. What makes it the most – the modular design (picture above). The manufacturer wanted to stick with what he does well and what users like, ie replaceable battery. To this was in a metal G5, it was necessary to solve the problem of placing the battery. It was decided to inserting it from the bottom to the interior of the body. Next to it we find the special connectors that allow you to expand G5.
As for the specification, there is no fireworks, but the specifications are really very good level. LG has set this year for more fun and actually – G5 is definitely not boring phone, surprises in many fields and does the appetite for more.
LG G5 has placed lower than the G4, because the 5.3-inch IPS display, showing content QHD resolution (2560 x 1440 pixels at 554 ppi density). It was covered with a slightly rounded on the side glass of the 3D glass Arc. The image is very good, absolutely can not accuse him of anything wrong. In addition, the screen is always on, that is always on. We know the solution of the model V10, but there we had to deal with It always in an extra upper screen. The G5 moved them to the screen. Date, time, and notifications are visible all the time on the display, so you do not need to unlock the phone. The time can be replaced with your own words (to a select few fonts) There is nothing to worry about the level of charge in the event of such a solution, because it illuminates only a portion of the display, and not all of its surface. Hence, within one hour, the screen requires only 0.8 percent of the battery. The It always can be turned off in the settings.
The battery has a capacity of 2800 mAh or 200 mAh less than G3, G3 and G4. In this case, however, we should not treat this as a disadvantage, since the G5 is driven by low-power processor Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 accompanied by 4 GB of RAM LPDDR4 and Adreno 530 graphics chip – a very good set, providing fast and efficient work under the control of Android 6.0 Marshmallow and in the company of energy-efficient location-based services.
Charging the battery from zero to one hundred percent has been accelerated, and at the moment … takes only a few seconds. If we have two batteries, it suffices to simply replace. To do this, press the button on the side panel to eject the tray and “break” the battery replacing it with a charged accumulator. Both remove the battery and sliding drawer requires some work and strength, everything just to this element does not fall alone at the first chance or during the fall.
LG G5 has 32 GB of internal memory and a slot for memory card up to 2 TB.
When it comes to appearance, the G5 will be liked or not – is so distinctive that it can only have fans or enemies, there’s no room for compromise. LG, in contrast to Samsung opted for a completely new, fresh redefining the smartphone and not odgrzewanego chop year with a few improvements.
I like the fact that LG is experimenting, not afraid of new, sometimes very controversial solutions. The best part is that this manufacturer are successful. Bar above the screen is black, but the pull-out drawer on the bottom is already colored casing. New view, I’m not a fan, but I think I can get used to it. At the bottom is a speaker and microphone. Very good, that LG is no longer pack the speakers to the rear of the casing. The volume buttons drifted back cover on the left edge, as we find in this model so. Rear Key. I really liked this solution, but not everyone was a fan. Opponents of placing the buttons on the back, therefore, should breathe a sigh of relief.
In the back were two lenses – standard (78 degrees) and the angle of view of 135 degrees. LG G5 is the only smartphone that allows you to take pictures with such a wide angle. What does this mean in practice? We can make two images, one typical second wider grasp the same in the frame much larger area, a large group of people, vast landscapes, as you can see below. Interesting fact – the human eye captures the image 15 degrees narrower.
The structure deserves attention, but there is one minor drawback. Standard lens allows you to take pictures with a resolution of 16 megapixels, which is very much in order, while the wide-angle gives us the only 8 megapixel (including cam for selfies has a resolution of 8 megapixels). This is because the image szesnastomegapikselowe wide-angle could weigh several times more than standard. However, assessing the quality of both the lens, there is no problem with the ripening details.
The application itself camera is none other than the well-known and well-liked automatic and manual, allowing manual selection of all parameters. Similarly, following the example of V10, it relates to the video.
The interface has been considerable change. While the area dialing, contact list or application responsible for sending SMS messages have not changed, so the icons, a list of settings undergone radical change.
It is no longer pastel candy, and a little more seriously. The interface very pleasing to the eye, drop-down notification bar also got a new look, but it is not the biggest change.
LG resigned from the menu. Facilitating which made it kind of a nod to the Chinese, who were the first (Huawei, Meizu, Xiaomi) resigned from the standard menu for the benefit of sliding screens. A similar solution, but without the ability to use widgets familiar with smartphones iPhone.
This means nothing other than to replace the icons “menu” simply shift finger. Applications are on the desks next to the main screen.
modules, modules, modules!
As I mentioned, the LG smartphone G5 is modular, and hence – can freely according to their own tastes, rebuild the smartphone, giving it additional functions or capabilities. At the moment, we know of two (meaning three), which were presented during the conference. From the representatives of LG but we know that for some time we should expect next, not only by the LG, but produced in cooperation with other companies.
We replace simple tray for this, which at the moment we want to use. At the moment it is POWERBANK, which also facilitates the use of the camera and a 32-bit digital-to-analog converter Hi-Fi function scaling. To use the module, you must move the battery, unless someone will supply the battery several copies – one for each module)
First, photo module, called the LG CAM Plus. It is equipped with physical buttons – trigger, performing image (snapshot), recording, zoom and LED control. The module allows you to control camera functions, a function lock focus and exposure. It’s kind of easier for people eg. Take pictures with one hand and aim your thumb on the button on the screen is not the straightforward process.
But that’s not all, because CAM Plus also … POWERBANK. The module itself has its own battery capacity of 1200 mAh, which supplies LG G5 when connected. This idea I really liked, joining CAM Plus, we have a total of 4000 mAh battery, and that’s really impressive number.
CAM Plus is very convenient when shooting, since the thickening of the housing bottom (right, if you talk about taking photos – horizontal arrangement). As a result, far more convenient to grab it and not have to worry about it, that could slip, fall or slip.
The second module was developed in cooperation with B & amp; O Play. 32-bit digital-to-analog converter Hi-Fi function scaling is something for audiophiles and melomaniaków. In addition to the solutions known from the model V10, which recently entered the Polish market, LG G5 also provides the ability to play 32-bit audio sampled at a frequency of 384 kHz. The module can be used with the LG G5, or as an independent DAC Hi-Fi, connected to any smartphone or PC. Relative to the closed housing LG V10 does not have a significant difference, but the transmitter G5 is a model “level up.” I suspect, however, that ordinary Kowalski can not hear the difference between transducers V10 and G5.
The module with the transmitter extends slightly phone – is greater than the normal battery drawer. Something for something. It is worth mentioning that the mini-jack (headphone) was on the top edge of the G5, but the sound module has a second, additional input on the handset. Both operate simultaneously, and thus, in aircraft, trains, two people can connect their sets to G5 and watch a film together.
Third – if you can call it that – the module is … a combination of virtual reality goggles. LG presented during the fair as VR goggles that cable connect with your smartphone. In addition, the company is launching the camera / camera recording the image 360 degrees and riding a toy-camera-robot-spy. About this and other accessories presented during the conference already write straight from the fair MWC.
Summing up the conference and premiere LG G5, I think that I can say that LG has won the exhibition MWC 2016. It took a completely new device, proved that the topic of smartphones not all has been said and is still in the market place for rehearsals, experiments, and there is no shortage of ideas. Is modules to check? I think so, I most liked the POWERBANK / set of buttons for the camera. I wonder what other manufacturer will launch. As for the price, “it will not be excessive.” I suspect that it may fluctuate more or less around the price of LG V10 at launch, but the manufacturer does not want to confirm. In short, keep it up, LG.
