The Government of Luxembourg has announced that it has begun efforts to legalize mining activities in space. Collaboration intends to invite other countries. This is the first European country that has taken legal steps to legalize the space mining.
– Our goal is to open access to undiscovered so far minerals on the lifeless rocks in space – said Etienne Schneider, Deputy Prime Minister of Luxembourg.
Two American companies interested in the space mining – Deep Space Industries and Planetary Resources – adopted a positive action of the Luxembourg government. You probably will want to cooperate.
– This initiative is evident sign that Europeans are innovative and able to take risks when it is worth. Although it sounds futuristic, the project has a strong scientific basis and can be implemented in the future – said Jean-Jacques Dordain, former ESA Director General and advisor to the Luxembourg government.
