NASA published a picture of the moon Dione from a close flyby Cassini spacecraft.
The Cassini spacecraft passed the moon Dione on August 17 at a distance of 474 km. This was the fifth and final close fly past the moon during the mission to explore rings and natural satellites of Saturn. New photos reveal previously unknown details of the moon Dione.
provide details frozen, heavily cratered surface of Dione. The main objective of the Cassini spacecraft was not taking a photograph Dione, and measurements of gravitational object. So it will be possible to further study the internal structure of the moon.
The probe will take a few meetings with other moons of Saturn October 28, it will pass only 49 km area of geologically active Enceladus. Cassini also passed moons Daphnis, Telesto, Epimetheus and Aegaeon. The end of the mission is planned for 2017.
