Professions University Rover Challenge raised to 44 teams, and have classified the 23rd – Polish representation at the forefront of the world when it comes to construction rovers – says the student Thomas Bear.
The University Rover Challenge competitions are played each year in late May and early June in the vicinity of Mars base analogue MDRS, in the desert of Utah in the United States. In extreme conditions the rovers constructed by students from dozens of universities compete in several competitions simulating Martian missions.
The design works of the Polish team on the rover, called Ares involved dozens of people. – Worked as a construction office, everyone was assigned the task, we used the common repository of technical documentation. We did everything from start to finish, from an idea by designing the submission, optimization and testing – says Tomasz Bear, a member of the Students’ Space Warsaw University of Technology.
