One year after the Maidan march through Kiev goes Dignity. Among the guests … – Gazeta.pl

March of Dignity is dedicated to the first anniversary of the victory of Ukrainians who last winter, after three months of protests, overthrew the then President Viktor Yanukovych.

The march, led to the center of the protests on Independence Square by President Petro Poroshenko, also participated Polish President Bronislaw Komorowski, President of the European Council, Donald Tusk, President of Lithuania Dalia Grybauskaite and presidents of Slovakia Andrej Kiska, Moldova Nicolae Timofti and Georgia Giorgi Margvelashvili.

The presence of the leaders of the EU countries, and above all, Tusk, the Ukrainian authorities perceive as a signal of solidarity and support for their actions in the conflict with the separatists supported by Russia to the east of the country.

Before the march by Poroshenko invited guests watched the evidence of Russia’s military presence in the conflict in the eastern districts. They are captured by the Ukrainian army tanks, mobile rocket launchers and other military vehicles and missiles, which the Russians use against Ukrainians in Donbas.

The anniversary of the tragic events

On Friday 20 February in Ukraine for the first time Heavenly Feast celebrated Hundreds Heroes. Poroshenko it established a special decree of the first anniversary of the most tragic stage between demonstrators and riot police last year in Kiev.

February 20, 2014 were killed in the Ukrainian capital approx. 80 people and 22 February, when Yanukovych fled from Kiev , there was a change of government. To the east, it takes a voltage

The situation in the east of Ukraine is still difficult; despite the ceasefire formally applicable government forces and separatists backed by Russia accuse each other of violating the truce.

Yesterday in Lugansk prisoner exchange occurred: 139 freed 52 Ukrainian military and separatists. The exchange of prisoners is one of the provisions of the agreement of February 12, negotiated with the participation of the leaders of Ukraine, Russia, Germany and France. It provides for a ceasefire (officially valid from 15 February), the withdrawal by both sides of heavy weapons from the combat zone, the creation of a buffer zone width of 50 to 70 km, and leave it by the parties within 14 days after the cessation of fighting.
