You can disconnect life support machine with a pregnant woman who is diagnosed with brain death – are held in Dublin. It was considered that the fetus has no chance of survival.

At the beginning of December in a woman, then in the 15th week of pregnancy, it was the death of the brain stem. A few days earlier a woman injured, after which it was connected to the supporting apparatus her alive. Doctors do not know whether under applicable law, it can be removed from the apparatus due to the pregnancy.

Finally, none of the seven doctors who testified in the case did not consider it necessary to continue with the life support women or that the child she was carrying, had a real chance of survival – reported “Irish Times”.

Although the treatment condition worsened women – had an open head wound, infection, and her brain obumierał. For these reasons – and the effect of drugs that were administered a woman – the court found that the child’s chances at birth is negligible and ordered the women to disconnect the apparatus.

It was concluded that prolonging medical procedures “would deprive her of the right to die with dignity” and her family – father, husband and two children – “expose to the unimaginable suffering,” as stated in the judgment.
