Mysterious cosmic shrapnel fell on the capital of Nicaragua. Meteorite? – Dziennik.pl

After hitting meteorite , which fell next to airport Managua , left a crater with a diameter of 12 meters. Many people staying in the city felt the explosion. Initially it was thought that there had been an earthquake. Hitting registered local seismographs, which inscribed two mikrowstrząsy – one sparked same meteorite, and the second – the sound of the explosion.

Wilfried Strauch of the Nicaraguan Institute of Territorial Studies points out that a similar event occurred in 1997. Nicaraguan authorities contacted the American Service Geological Survey USGS , to further investigate this unusual event.
