Superksiężyc lit up the night sky. View photos – Polish Radio

The phenomenon called Superksiężycem can be observed quite frequently, because once in 13 months and 18 days, but due to the weather, is not always possible to fully enjoy the beauty of the enormous moon.

The full moon last night seemed by up to 30 percent brighter than usual and 14 percent larger. Seemingly course. This impression will enter lunar perigee, which is the point on the orbit closest to the Earth. The name “Superksiężyc” was introduced in 1979. Astrologer Richard Nolle by the determination of the moment when the Sun, Moon and Earth are relative to each other in a straight line, and the moon also is in its perigee.

Superksiężyc is a phenomenon adored by lovers of photography, because it gives the landscape a fabulous atmosphere.

The next few days bring observers of the sky and several other attractions. More and more in the sky is the Perseids, which is left behind by the comet of small bits of rock that at a speed of about 60 kilometers per second enter the atmosphere. Perseid peak activity falls in the night from Tuesday to Wednesday. In the coming days, late in the evening will also be seen with the naked eye flitting over the Polish International Space Station. Probably its observation may, however, hinder the bad weather.
