Finding the causes of cancer is one of the biggest challenges of the twenty-first century medicine. This topic duties include experts chaired by prof. Krystian Jażdżewski. They investigate the genes for inherited diseases such as cancer, or hypercholesterolemia.

– Each tumor arises from a genetic defect, but not necessarily born with it. Mutation usually arises in the course of our lives in a particular tissue, while about one-fifth of patients suffering from cancer was born with this defect in the gene – explains the doctor.
