The computer instead of Sherlock Holmes – Polish Radio

In Poland still few companies decided to cooperate with universities. A pity, because research on new technologies may accelerate the development of the industry.

The more so as in the case of research at the Faculty of Civil Engineering University of Częstochowa, they can be used in various industries, eg. in aircraft produced in Mielec, but also abroad .

– The cooperation concerns research into technologies to connect aluminum structures. As part of this cooperation, together with the company PZL Mielec develop technology friction stir welding for thinking it more complex structures airline – says Piotr Lacki from the Department of Civil Engineering Technical University of Czestochowa. – Using this technology we can some elements automate, or eliminate manual steps in the manufacture of these elements – he added.

As explained by guest radio Ones, at this moment, talks are underway with several companies in the construction industry and medical assistance for the further development of these technologies in which the university is a leader.

The introduction of technology in life is still far

The introduction of this technology into force yet but a long way to go.

– First of all, there are no professionals in this field, there is no equipment. We still need to educate staff, to protect it from the technical and popularize. As for our industrial partners are making plans to deploy it into production. I think for 4 – 5 years it will be possible that it began to function – says Piotr Lacki.

In the West, like

According to guest radio Ones cooperation in the Polish university with business not far removed from how it looks in the West.

– Of course, Western universities are better funded, have a better research facilities than ours, but I think we have nothing to be ashamed of . Polish universities in this respect also becoming more competitive, and this cooperation is very similar – emphasizes Piotr Lacki.

But experts say the competitiveness of Polish can just improve, due to higher spending on research and development, not less labor costs. Unfortunately, in terms of innovation Poland it is still in the tail of Europe. Expenditure on R & D amounts to only 0.9 percent. GDP, the Scandinavian countries spend on this goal over 3 per cent. GDP.
