Warsaw University really is the University of Jozef Pilsudski in Warsaw – said RAHR historian Adam Stefan Lewandowski. Names are not changed neither during the German occupation and in the period of the NDP nor in free Poland after 1989. he said.

Adam Stefan Lewandowski: we Must remember that the idea of creation in Warsaw of higher education has fallen by the Poles. It Stanislau Stanislaus Kostka Potocki and stanisław Staszic came out with this initiative. This fact is not announced even on the official website of the UNIVERSITY. After 1816. the University had a different name. Call at least the Royal University of Warsaw, or in honour of Alexander I – the University of the main Directorate of the Moscow railway station. At the time Poland regained independence in those days, all present name. In 1935 the authorities of the University decided in honor of the Builder of the II Republic and special attention was paid to the beautiful of the renaming of the University of Jozef Pilsudski in Warsaw.
In what circumstances was the University College Jozef Pilsudski in Warsaw?
– it All happened instantly. May 16, 1935. – four days after the death of Jozef Pilsudski – the Academic Senate of Warsaw University took the decision of assigning a University named after the first Marshal of Poland. After the capture by the Communists of the Warsaw new government has continued the destruction of Polish history, which was initiated by Germany. After 1989, under pressure from the younger generation of students, the College returned to the subject. Discussion ensued on the restoration of the old name. There are different relationships in the course of negotiations. Some believe that all scientific personnel, it was against przedwojennemu patron. Some of that opinion was divided. The application put to the vote of the Senate Committee on organization and spatial development of the UNIVERSITY. Unfortunately, the project by the majority of votes was rejected.
