Satellite 2014-28E, which was launched by the Russians in May 2014 has the ability to move freely and of approaching other objects. Large maneuverability led to media speculation about the fate of this equipment, which – according to some commentators – can be the destroyer of orbital satellites.

This speculation is fueled by the lack of information from Russia about the purpose and capabilities of the satellite. Commenting on this issue, Dr. Joan Johnson-Freese of the US Naval War College, said: “Each one having the ability to maneuver in orbit can be used as a weapon.
