Remember the people consecrated to God – Our Diary

Sunday, November 30, 2014 (19:43)

On the first Sunday of Advent in the universal Church year begins Consecrated Life.

Throughout the world there are approx. 950 thousands of consecrated persons: nuns, brothers and fathers, people belonging to Secular Institutes and Individual Forms of Consecrated Life. There are over two times more than the priests, which is approx. 410,000. All consecrated persons give themselves entirely to the service of God and humanity through the imitation of Christ in the way of the evangelical counsels.

Without their testimony and dedication is hard to imagine the life and work of the contemporary Church. Beginning with the year of Consecrated Life will be celebrated under the theme: “The Gospel, prophecy, hope – the consecrated life in the Church today.” One of the objectives indicated in November 2013. By Pope Francis is the testimony of the beauty of following Christ in a variety of forms in which the consecrated life expresses itself.

As pointed out in his message opening the new year in the Church Father. Bishop Kazimierz gourd, Chairman of the Committee. Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life KEP, the Holy Father establishing Year of Consecrated Life, it gives us the opportunity to rediscover the value of which is to sacrifice themselves totally to God, you are just an example of consecrated persons.

Bishop gourd. In Poland, lives and works approx. 35,000 people consecrated to prayer, sacrifice and service of your testimony in various sizes, often living next to us, enrich the life of the Church.

– So much in our daily lives has grown into that today almost do not notice them. Not much is heard about them in the media, and yet they run hospitals, nursing homes, schools and kindergartens, various charitable works, serve us and our families – Father recalls. Bishop gourd, while pointing out that many of us on a daily basis using the sacramental ministry of consecrated persons haunts conducted by them sanctuaries, they spent reading books, listening and watching religious media. – None of us can also say that it is not indebted to the cloistered nuns who pray continually and offer his life for our salvation – Fr. notes. Bishop gourd. Recalls that in the coming year will be an opportunity to get to know the role of consecrated persons in the Church and should take advantage of this opportunity.

– We will be able to explore the richness of their charisms, extraordinary lives of the saints, the variety of works that lead. Let it all leads us to give thanks to God, who always calls men and women to the consecrated life testimony confirmed profound thought Carmelite saint Teresa of Avila, that “whoever possesses God, nothing is missing. God alone is enough. “- Fr. notes. Bishop gourd. It should also be noted that starting today Consecrated Life Year is also an opportunity to pray for the men and women religious and the new holy vocations to the service of God and the people.

Euromłot on Google or Digital Single Market? – Politics

Act-React-Impact For a few days the excitement aroused the announcement that the European Parliament will call on the European Commission to” share “Google. The day has come and awaited EP adopted a resolution , in which about Google not a word, and the whole concerns the need to create a Digital Single Market.

The resolution takes so many issues: cyberbezpieczeństwie and net neutrality, innovation and benefits for consumers and businesses. JCR is a market worth € 260 billion and millions of new jobs. It billions of savings for consumers and end inequality due to the country of residence. In a word: a fairy tale.

Almost, because lurking behind bushes nasty bad wolf dominant monopoly on the digital market and use that position to suppress competition and consumer use. It is therefore necessary leveling playing field for all players. And so we are approaching, after reading a few pages of a document, the points 15, 16, 17 and 18, which are associated with Google.

These points treat because wyszukiwarkowych services and harm their relationships with other services. A key piece of the resolution, in the literal, English follows:

Notes That the online search market is of Particular Importance in Ensuring competitive conditions within the digital single market, given the potential development of search engines into gatekeepers and The Possibility of commercialising they have secondary exploitation of information Obtained; calls, the Therefore, on the Commission to enforce EU competition rules decisively, based on input from all relevant stakeholders and taking into account the entire structure of the digital single market in order the ensure remedies That is truly benefit Consumers, Internet users and online businesses; calls, furthermore, on the Commission Consider this expression of interest Aimed at unbundling search engines from other commercial services as they are potential long-term Means of Achieving the aforementioned aims;

The last verse of this passage is exactly that what digital people waiting for a few days: The EP calls on the Commission to consider proposals to separate search of other commercial services. Because the search engine market in Europe for more than 90 percent. is dominated by Google, the record most concerned about this company. But not only.

Is for that sentence should make a fuss? The initiative itself Digital Single Market is absolutely necessary, it is the market fragmentation reduces the chances of European Internet companies that may not like American or Chinese companies benefit from economies of scale. So let JCR rise as soon as possible.

But what about the Google? Well, Parliament has no power of ruling against an American corporation. The European Commission is unlikely to be willing to go in the direction of the resolution in the negotiations on a free trade agreement with the US.

The more that Americans as they gave to understand that the European initiative they do not like. So why this game? Some commentators suggests that “anti-Google’owy” record of the work of European, especially German publishing lobby. Others – it’s a purely political ploy aimed primarily at the European Commission. Regardless of pedigree rezolucyjnych findings anyway it is worth asking the question that asks today, “The Economist” : whether and how to regulate monopolies digital? Is the possible implementation of recommendations PE actually would provide benefits to consumers and have a positive impact on the competitiveness of European companies? Analysts ‘The Economist’ claim that rather the contrary.

The problem of digital regulation of markets for many years has economists and antitrust authorities, the previous hot discussion took place at a time when a symbol of evil in the digital world was Microsoft.

Antitrust Trial conducted by the US against the company did not lead to landmark decision, however, has provided an enormous amount of knowledge. Still a classic is a book Hal Varian and Carl Shapiro “Information Rules “. Shapiro worked in the US Department of Justice, where he is engaged in antitrust matters. Hal Varian is chief economist at … Google. And an antitrust investigation against Google started in 2010. By the European Commission takes and certainly still valid, the previous Commission was unable to get things done. So let’s wait for the decision.

A waiting celebrate appointment today, the European Data Protection Supervisor – it will Giovanni Buttarelli, and his deputy Wojciech Wiewiórowski, our steadfast Inspector General (the Inspector General Personal Data). Congratulations!

Physics for all – Republic

The data from the experiments are available for free to everyone.

The data from the experiments are available for free to everyone.

Source: AFP

The portal CERN – the European Organization for Nuclear Research invested at the border between Switzerland and France – was first made available real data from experiments at the Large Hadron Collider LHC. They are available for free on the Open Data Portal.

These are data from four experiments: ALICE, ATLAS, CMS, LHCb. They can analyze professional physicists from around the world and interested amateurs. These data will benefit not only the scientific community, they also will be used for educational purposes.

– Launch Open Data Portal is an important step for CERN. Data obtained at the LHC is one of the most important accomplishments of the experiments, which from now on we begin to share with the whole world – said Rolf Dieter Heuer, CERN’s Chief Executive Officer.

On the other hand Lassila-Perini Kati, a physicist working at CERN, highlights, that a team of researchers working in this famous resort is curious as to how the data will be available to use for new users. They are used for the examples presented in the network data analysis carried out in different areas of complexity.

– We hope that these examples will stimulate the creativity of external users – said Lassila-Perini Kati.

CERN deals with basic research in the field of physics. Their goal is to understand the elements that make up the universe and to understand the laws that govern them.

Samsung was sure it would be a hit. A default equipment in warehouses – Gazeta.pl

, reports the Wall Street Journal , the Galaxy S5 during the first three months of market presence has sold 12 million units. Samsung counting on selling higher by 40%. perhaps because the Galaxy S4 in the same period has sold 16 million units.

Even the WSJ says that smartphones have already made “stay in the stores.” Samsung realized that its sales estimate was too high. Therefore, a month ago announced that it will change the approach to their products.

The S5 is most popular in the US, and the lowest in China. In total, there is no wonder – the last Chinese producers have a good run and present better and better equipment. And in addition, in a much more affordable price.

The first episode of Game of Thrones game lived to the official … – Tabletowo.pl

Financial Times came to the draft resolution, which would reduce the monopoly Google through the division of the company. Part of the company, which is responsible for the search engine would probably be converted into a separate company.

The legal record does not shine directly the name “Google”, said generally about the need to separate search of other forms of business. The aim of the European Parliament is to create a level playing field for competition. The new regulations will hit the giant’s Mountain View, whose share of the search engine market is 90 percent.

The Financial Times explains that the possible division of Google is possible, but it can be difficult to carry out. In a sense, the draft resolution targeting Google has a political subtext – according to the Financial Times, the anonymous source who knows the scenes of the creation of the Act, the division’s demands are disproportionate to the conclusions that stretched from the European Parliament of ongoing investigations on the Google monopoly since 2012.

This may mean that the separation request only companies searching for a little “too”. On the other hand, rivals such as Yelp claim that they can not properly grow just by the monopoly of Google.

According to the agency Reuters Google division could pose a serious threat to the operation of the company.

The resolution is currently in the final phase of consultation. The fact that the EU wants to actually call Google to split’ll find out on Thursday.

The European Union has launched an antitrust investigation against Google in 2012 , two years after receiving the first complaints from competitors.

Another global record heat. The warmest October since 134 years – Polish Radio

In September, the agency reported that in August this year was also the hottest since 1880. In March, the World Meteorological Organization announced that 2013 was globally the sixth warmest since taking appropriate measurements, which is the continuation of a long-term trend of global warming.

All the years of the twenty-first century (2001-2013) include the 15 warmest years in the world in the history of regular measurements. The average global temperature from 1880 until 2013 increased by 0.06 degree per decade, but the pace is accelerated in the early 60 .; in the years 1964-2013 the increase was about 0.15 degree within a decade.

Russian satellite shows the orbital characteristics of the weapons – LM.pl – The first portal in the region – Konin, Kolo Słupca, Turek

Science and Technology 2014-28E weapon Orbital Weapons Space Exploration space maneuvers in orbit Militarization of Space satellite Military Satellite military

Satellite 2014-28E, which was launched by the Russians in May 2014 has the ability to move freely and of approaching other objects. Large maneuverability led to media speculation about the fate of this equipment, which – according to some commentators – can be the destroyer of orbital satellites.

This speculation is fueled by the lack of information from Russia about the purpose and capabilities of the satellite. Commenting on this issue, Dr. Joan Johnson-Freese of the US Naval War College, said: “Each one having the ability to maneuver in orbit can be used as a weapon. This does not mean, however, that all this maneuvering satellite weapons. (…) Such concerns arise, however, every time when someone will create a technology capable of having two applications. “

Organic particles on a comet. This is the last report of Philae – Dziennik.pl

Organic molecules found in comet 67 P. He found them l ądownik Philae , who sat on it last Wednesday. This information gave the German space agency, DLR.Było this historic landing. Not only did the first terrestrial lander touched softly surface of a comet , it’s still – as they say German scientists – wywąchał on the organic molecules.

Information about Philae sent shortly before I went into hibernation due to exhausted batteries. One of the research instruments detected carbon-containing molecules, but for now it is not clear whether they are organic molecules so complex that they can come in the protein , ie chemical compounds necessary for life. Built by Polish experts instrument MUPUS at the same time showed that the comet’s surface is as hard as ice, which is harder than expected.

“The mission of Philae is a success” – Polish Radio

Friday Night connect to Philae. ESA ground team in a long time working in the fish 24/7. Fig. ESA.

These devices are examining the comet 67P Churyumov – Gerasimenko. According to Dr. Kamil Złoczewskiego, the most important is that the scientists have done all the scheduled experiments.

The scientist added that Sleep Philae also does not mean the end of the Rosetta mission . – The probe will follow the comet by the end of next year. In August, the comet passes through the point closest to the sun and then it will be the most active. Research that last. Success is guaranteed, and will be even greater when the Rosetta spacecraft will survive the end of next year – he says.

Scientists have not done it at a loss lander Philae. In their view, it may still activate, especially when the comet is close to the sun. – It is possible that if the solar panels receive appropriate to the action, the dose of energy – says the expert.

Kamil Złoczewski emphasizes that a large role in the Rosetta mission, especially in the last few days, played a penetrator MUPUS, designed by scientists at the Space Research Centre. It was the first instrument that touched the surface of the comet, plunged into it and had this power, which could break the lander on the surface of a comet. Then you have activated the drill, which took samples.

Because of the broken communication, to the late Friday evening, it was not known whether the samples were transported in suitable places, to the appropriate research instruments to determine their isotopic composition, that is what constitutes the comet. During the night connecting from Friday to Saturday, it turned out that the Philae completed and sent data analysis. During the same call Philae batteries ran out, and he went to sleep.

November 12 lander settled down in the shade of the rocks. Its solar panels were not receiving enough power, and the batteries have sufficient only for a few dozen hours. Therefore, it was decided to run all the instruments to make it download as much material to study.

Now before scientists analyze the data submitted by Rosetta. At its results will have to wait. Rosetta mission lasts for 10 years.

Philae batteries are exhausted. He had to take a sample! – Polish Radio

Details of Philae flow to the ESA , photo Authority.

Connection indicated that the lander, which is located at the distance of 511 million km comet 67P / Churyumov-Gerasimenko, still had energy.

Data transfer started on Friday at 23:29 Polish time.

The ESA still do not know the exact location of the lander, but the data received from him.

WHAT HAPPENS WITH PHILAE? REPORT PRESS CONFERENCE after Friday & gt; & gt; & gt;

It lasted a race against time. Agency wanted to do as much research comet’s surface before the original equipment batteries are exhausted. Philae is located in a shady spot and it is highly doubtful to obtain power from the solar battery back-up.

Scientists ESA launched all research instruments lander. They worked apxs, MUPUS, drill and SD2, which provided the sample to the analyzer COSAC and Ptolemy.

After midnight the night from Friday to Saturday, the ESA has confirmed on his Facebook account that has managed to make drilling and sample. This is the first in the history of the sample, which was collected from a comet! Experts from ESA ground teams analyze data that have been released from the lander to make sure that the drilling was complete.

They were made:

– research with the help of Ptolemy instrument designed for the analysis of elements light on the surface of a comet.

– At least 3 photos from a camera to a new position Rolis lander

– downloaded the data from the experiment CONSERT “screener” comet

Exciting night in the Mission Control Center in Darmstadt and the Lander Control Centre in Cologne, Germany.

We already know that studies have been done with the help of Ptolemy instrument, designed for the analysis of light elements on the surface of a comet. At least three images made Rolis camera in the new position of the lander. Also downloaded the data from the experiment CONSERT “screener” comet.

data

Details of the drilling. Fig. ESA.

The batteries have run out of Philae on Saturday. May be able to wake the lander when lighting conditions change on a comet, and she approaches the sun.

Rosetta probe, which revolves around a comet, still performs his research without any interference, so the Rosetta mission continues.

Friday

Friday night linking of Philae. ESA ground team in Darmstadt, Germany for a long time running 24/7. Fig. ESA.

About one in the morning – an ongoing links with the Philae – ESA said in the blog that the battery level dropped to near 21.5 V. Below this level, the battery does not provide power supply unit.

About 1:30 Polish time Philae instruments excluded because of a lack of energy. Since then, the lander is in sleep mode and sends only basic data.

ESA managed to download all data collected during the first drilling (First Sequence Science).

On Friday around midnight Philae rotated about 35 degrees to a more “expose” him at the sun. Maybe even in the near future to regain connectivity. ESA does not lose hope.

Music Key – YouTube launched a new service next week. It’s … – Gazeta.pl

Google officially announced your blog to launch next week of a new service called Music Key . It’s kind of a cross between YouTube music cloud.

The new service will allow users to so what we know of solutions such as Spotify or Wimp – create individual playlists, access to 30 million songs using a special application, listening to music offline. We will also be able to listen to music in the background (at the moment when we use the YouTube app go to another application turns off the music). Portal ArsTechnica says that one of the Music Key will have access to a variety of music channels on an internet radio.

Music Key is a paid service, but without advertising – in beta will cost 7.99 dollar per month. After six months of testing the service price will increase to 9.99 dollars. The monthly price includes access to Google Play Music, in which the resource is 30 million songs.

The new application is not the only change for music fans. Google announces also that changing the YouTube mobile applications for Android and iOS. Users now have easier access especially popular playlists and entire albums in HD. Google also says that improved stability data, which listening to music on mobile devices will be even better.

The lander settled European space probe on a comet – Polish Press Agency

13.11. Frankfurt (PAP) – Despite technical problems lander automatic interplanetary probe of the European Space Agency (ESA) rested safely on the surface of the comet’s nucleus – ESA said on Thursday.

Philae lander separated Stukilogramowy on Wednesday from the home probe Rosetta, circulating around the comet 67P / Churyumov-Gerasimenko. However, in the course of the ongoing seven hours of Philae to the comet’s approach failed to start two harpoons, which were to fix the lander to the surface of the nucleus – which triggered fears that the camera zdryfuje in open space.

The first sent from a distance of five hundred million kilometers picture shows the lander on the surface of the nucleus, in the harsh rocky landscape. With obtained by ESA data shows that after reaching the nucleus of Philae twice bounced away from him, but then fell back and stopped about 18:30 Polish time on Wednesday.

The landing took place 10 years after the start of the Earth and Rosetta was associated with risk, since the surface configuration having a size of 3 to 5 km of the comet nucleus was not previously known. Scientists hope that the collected and analyzed by the lander’s instruments samples to help expand your knowledge on the origin of planets and life, as matter of comets forming ice and rocks hold organic molecules of yore.

Rosetta was launched March 2, 2004 from Kourou spaceport in French Guiana. To reach the comet, the probe used to increase the speed of their gravitational fields of the planets, approaching this purpose in 2005-2009 to the Earth three times and once to Mars. Therefore, with respect to the sun’s trajectory has the shape of an expanding spiral.

Since this spiral almost reached the orbit of Jupiter, Rosetta was a long time in the zone of greatly reduced in comparison with the intensity of solar radiation the Earth. Therefore, in July 2011 on-board equipment trzytonowego probe introduced into sleep mode to activate it in January of this year, when the solar panels could again reach the required power.

September 10, after a series of maneuvers near the nucleus of the comet, Rosetta entered orbit around it, which in spaceflight has never practiced. Also, a rear lander on the surface of the nucleus is unprecedented in the history of astronautics.

Scientists assume that the Philae will transmit data intensively for two and a half day or even longer – which is dependent on the rate of discharging its battery. In contrast, the research activities Rosetta probe will last until the end of 2015.

His participation in the Rosetta mission are also Poles. The lander is MUPUS instrument developed by scientists at the Space Research Centre. MUPUS is a knock at the surface of the nucleus, to examine, inter alia, temperature. The movie popularizing knowledge of the Rosetta mission completed on behalf of ESA Polish director Tomasz Baginski. (PAP)

[photo: sxc / cc / flaivoloka]

Once the first ever spacecraft landed on the surface of a comet. Philae lander settled on the comet 67P / Churyumov-Gerasimenko – confirmed by the European Space Agency (ESA), the leading Rosetta mission.

The landing maneuver was started about 9.35 Polish time when the Philae lander was released by the probe Rosetta near the nucleus of the comet Churyumov-Gerasimenko. Stukilogramowego probe Philae landing was successful, a confirmation signal reached Earth at 17.03 and caused great joy among scientists and engineers gathered at the European Space Operations Centre ESOC in Darmstadt.

Rosetta and Philae. For the first time in the history of the lander is on the … – Gazeta.pl

[UPDATE 10:03]

Philae lander separated from Rosetta. It seems that the system is not working gas, which at the time of landing is pressed against Philae to the surface. If you do not start, the probe will have to rely only on the harpoon ramming into the ground.

MUPUS confirmed its action.

The maneuver Rosetta will leave that up to 11:58 there is no contact with Philae.

Mission step-by-step

Rosetta was launched March 2, 2004. Home was to be held January 12, 2003 year, but during the previous mission has been a failure Ariane 5 and all we had to move. Originally planned to fly to comet 46P / Wirtanen, but the delay meant that the target had to be changed.

You have chosen short-term comet 67P / Churyumov-Gerasimenko, who visits the Sun at about 6.5 years.

To fly to the comet, Rosetta had to disperse properly and achieve orbit extending beyond the orbit of Mars. For this purpose, four assists gravity called gravitational more vividly slings. It is very close (on a cosmic scale) flights in the vicinity of the planets, which allow you to use gravity to accelerate the probe and give it a proper direction. This procedure requires very careful planning route.

Rosetta successively passed:

– Earth 4 March 2005
– Mars 25 February 2007
– Earth November 13, 2007
– asteroid Šteins 5 September 2008
– Earth November 13, 2009
– asteroid Lutetia 10 July 2010

June 8, 2011, she was put into hibernation, which lasted until January 20, 2014 year.

Earlier, the European Space Agency (ESA) organized a campaign “Wake Up Rosetta and a contest for the best video accompanying the wake of the probe Rosetta, who won the Pole, Joe Dobrowolski. As a reward, he was invited to the mission control center on the day of landing of Philae.

From May to August this year, a number of maneuvers by which Rosetta approached the comet Churyumov-Gerasimenko, precipitated speed and 6 August entered its orbit .

began with the circulation of the orbit – because the attraction of the comet is too weak to keep the probe, Rosetta uses thrusters to remain in the vicinity. In August began photographing the kernel, and September 10 – the preparation of accurate maps.

On the basis of their chosen place where Today, November 12 has landed Philae .

The next stages of the mission is to accompany the comet for the end of 2015 – Rosetta has observed increasing activity in the nucleus as it approaches the sun.

In this video shows the milestones mission:

What we know about the comet 67P / Churyumov-Gerasimenko?

It was discovered in 1969 by the Ukrainian astronomer Klima Czurimowa photographs taken by Svetlana Gerasimenko. It is a short-period comets appear near the Sun for 6.45 years. Its orbit was changed in 1959 by the flyby of Jupiter.

The observations made by the Hubble Space Telescope in 2003 suggested that the kernel is regular, with bulges on both sides. However, as we approach the Rosetta comet turned out that the shape of the nucleus is completely different. Initially it was thought that the comet 67P / Churyumov-Gerasimenko may be subject to a double. Further observations showed that the nucleus is a single object, but is irregular and can be distinguished in two parts connected by a constriction.

July 14 probe sent pictures taken from a distance of about 12 ooo miles that showed rotating nucleus. Clearly the shape that came to be called a rubber duck.

The dimensions of the nucleus is determined by specifying the size for large and small parts:

The comet rotates in time 12.4 hours, its surface temperature, ranging from -68 ° C to – 43 ° C.

67P / Churyumov-Gerasimenko will be closest to the Sun in August 2015 will not be visible from Earth with the naked eye or through amateur telescopes.

Sony Rosetta magnetometer picked up interesting oscillations of the magnetic field of the comet. Processed be increasing oscillation frequency so that it can be presented in the form of sound. This is the song Magnetic Rosetta:

Today, the comet is approximately 475 719 000 km from Earth, light and radio signals need to travel that distance, 28 minutes and 20 seconds.

What are the objectives of the Rosetta mission?

– Global characterization of cometary nuclei: its dynamic properties, composition and surface morphology.
– Examine the chemical composition, mineralogical and isotopic volatiles and solids on the surface of the nucleus.
– Determination of physical properties and relations between the volatiles and the solid nucleus.
– Observation phases of the comet’s activity and processes in the surface layer and the inner core coma (interactions between the gas and dust).
– Global characterization of passing asteroids, including the determination of their dynamic properties, composition and surface morphology (for Wikipedia ).

To achieve this, Rosetta and Philae, scientific instruments carry the following:

OSIRIS – consists of two cameras – one with a wide, second narrow field of view. They have provided images of the comet nucleus, which remarkably resemble Earth’s mountains.

VIRTIS and ALICE is working properly spectrometers in the visible and infrared, and ultraviolet light. Examine the temperature and composition of the nucleus, the gas and dust in the coma and tail of a comet.

MIRO is a spectrometer and a microwave radiometer, which examines the volatiles comets – water, methanol, ammonia.

ROSINA is a two mass spectrometers exploring the atmosphere and ionosphere of the comet and the reactions that occur in them.

COSIMA will conduct an analysis of the composition of cometary dust particles .

MIDAS is a microscope, which carry images of the dust particles with a resolution of 4 nm.

RPC is a set of five instruments that will address the plasma around comets

GIADA This detector, which will determine the physical properties of the dust particles around the comet.

CONSERT will examine the interior of the nucleus using short pulses of radio.

RSI is a communication system by sending signals to Earth will measure the physical properties of the comet’s nucleus and its orbit.

The lander Philae there are 10 additional instruments.

CIVA will make panoramic images of the comet and microscopic photographs of samples taken from the surface

apxs will examine the chemical composition surface at the landing site.

Rolis will be photographing the surface during the descent of the lander.

COSAC will look for organic compounds.

Ptolemy will examine the isotopic composition of light elements on the surface.

SESAME will conduct a probing acoustic space, examine the electrical properties and forfeited to the comet dust falling .

ROMAP will take care of plasma and magnetic field.

CONSERT with your part on the orbiter will examine the interior of the nucleus with short radio pulses.

SD2 wwierci to 23 cm and take the samples for the instruments CIVA, COSAC and Ptolemy.

MUPUS determine mechanical properties and temperature profile of the surface of a comet.

MUPUS was built in the Polish Space Research Centre. Its creator is an engineer Jerzy Grygorczuk. The device consists of a long rod – penetrator having a stick in the ground comets and “hammer” that is, the part that is responsible for potting penetrator. Penetrator is within 16 thermometers that will create a temperature profile of the surface of a comet.

In the photo, which we did in the Space Research Centre, you can see the twin MUPUS – working version that remained on Earth.

How is the landing of Philae?

The landing takes place on 12 November. European Space Operations Centre (ESOC) in Darmstadt, where it directs the landing procedure of 2:00 at night, embarking for the Rosetta probe commands for preparing the landing procedure of Philae.

Ok 3:35 Philae confirmed its readiness.

Between 7:35 a 8:35 – the final decision GO / NOGO for landing (ie, initiation or abandonment procedures)

8:49 – turning research instruments Philae – the first was MUPUS.

10:03 – disconnect from Rosetta’s Philae. From the moment the lander falls freely towards the nucleus of the comet. It does not control its own engines, so you can not adjust its flight.

10:04 – Philae doing the first of farewell photos Rosetta

11: 53 – the first to send a signal to Earth from Philae by Rosetta.

Here are the planned landing place of Philae:
